Compare Scan Results Across Versions

See what changed between scans when reviewing a new version of a file.

When you review a new version of a file in Scan, you no longer have to read the full scan output from scratch. Scan now shows a version comparison that highlights what changed since the previous version, so you can focus your review on what is actually different.

This is especially useful during approval flows, where you want to confirm that previously flagged issues were addressed and check whether the revision introduced anything new.

How It Works

When you open the Scan view for a file that has a previous scanned version, Scan compares the current version against the prior one and summarizes the differences. Each flag is grouped so you can see at a glance what changed:

  • Resolved – Flags that were present in the previous version and no longer appear in the current one

  • New – Flags that appear in the current version but were not in the previous one

  • Unchanged – Flags that are present in both versions

This lets you concentrate on the resolved and new items rather than re-reading the entire scan report.

View the Version Comparison

  1. Open the file in the File Viewer

  2. Go to the Scan view

  3. If a previous version exists, the change summary appears automatically, showing resolved, new, and unchanged flags

From here you can review only what changed since the last version.

First Scan or No Previous Version

If the file has no previously scanned version to compare against, the comparison section is hidden or shows a clear "no previous version" state. In that case, you will see the standard full scan output for the first version.

Which Versions Are Compared

The comparison is based on versions submitted through the approval flow, not every automatic save. This keeps the comparison meaningful, so you are comparing reviewed versions rather than every intermediate edit.

Why This Helps

Reviewing changes instead of the full report speeds up review cycles and reduces back-and-forth between reviewers and content owners. It also creates a clearer record of how content improved from one version to the next, which supports your audit trail across the approval process.
