Move Files Between Folders and Projects

Move a file into a different folder or project, add it to more than one place, or return it to your general asset library.

Written by Austin Carroll

Files in Warrant OS are not locked to the place you first uploaded them. As campaigns wrap up, projects launch, or your library grows, you can move any file to a new home in a few clicks. Folder membership is managed from one place, so the same steps work whether you are filing a single asset or reorganizing a batch.

Move a File to Another Folder or Project

  1. Go to Folders under Library and find the file you want to move.

  2. Click the asset/assets you want to move. A black action bar appears at the bottom of the screen showing how many files you have selected.

  3. In the action bar, click the Move icon. Hover over the icons if you are not sure which one it is, and the label will appear.

  4. The Manage folder membership window opens. It lists every folder and project in your workspace as well as the option to create a new folder, with the file's current location already checked and marked as current.

  5. Check the box next to the folder or project where you want the file to live.

  6. Uncheck the box next to its current location so the file moves rather than being added in two places.

  7. Click Save Changes.

You can also drag a file card from the Library grid and drop it onto a folder in the left sidebar.

That's it. The file now appears in its new folder or project.

Tip: Use the Search folders & projects bar at the top of the window if your workspace has a long list. Subfolders are shown indented beneath their parent folder, so you can drop a file straight into a subfolder.

Add a File to More Than One Folder

Folder membership uses checkboxes rather than a single destination, so one file can live in several places at once. This is useful when an asset belongs to both a campaign project and an evergreen folder.

  1. Select the file and click Move.

  2. Check every folder or project the file should appear in.

  3. Click Save Changes.

The file now shows up in each location you checked. Removing it from one of them later does not remove it from the others.

Move a File Back to the General Library

If a file does not belong in any particular folder or project, you can send it back to your general asset library.

  1. Select the file and click Move.

  2. Check All Assets.

  3. Uncheck every other folder and project the file is currently in. At least one folder must stay checked, which is why All Assets goes first.

  4. Click Save Changes.

The file stays in your library under All Assets and remains fully searchable and scannable. It simply is not filed under a specific folder or project anymore.

Note: Bulk moves apply the same folder membership to every file in your selection. The window opens with every folder and project that any of the selected files is in already checked, so if the files currently sit in different places, saving adds all of them to each checked location and unchecking one removes all of them from it. Move them in smaller groups if you want to keep them apart.
