Conditional rules let you decide exactly when a disclosure or a Brand Portal library record applies to a piece of content. They are IF/THEN rules, such as "IF the channel is Email AND the audience is Retail Investors THEN apply this disclosure", that Warrant checks every time it scans.
How rules work with scope fields
Disclosures and library records already have scope fields (channel, geography, audience, product and brand) that say where they apply. Rules say when, using conditions the scope fields can't express, for example:
Apply in Email or Social, but only when the audience is Retail Investors.
Skip when the content mentions "institutional".
Apply only to content for Brand X and in California.
Warrant checks rules first, from top to bottom, and the first rule that matches decides. A rule set to apply turns the disclosure or record on for that content, whatever the scope fields say. A rule set to skip turns it off. If no rule matches, the scope fields decide, exactly as they would without rules. A disclosure or record with no rules works just as it always has.
Where to find it
Disclosures: in the sidebar, open Brand Portal > Disclosures and click a disclosure. The Conditional logic section is on the disclosure's page. You'll also find it in the Add New Disclosure and Edit Disclosure forms.
Library records: open Brand Portal, choose a library, and click a record. The Conditional logic section shows when the record has rules, or when you're editing it. It is also in the form for adding a record.
Add a rule
Open the disclosure or record and click Edit. Changes save automatically.
In Conditional logic, click Add rule.
Optionally, give the rule a name so it's easy to recognize, for example "Retail email only".
Next to IF, choose all of these (AND) if every condition must be true, or any of these (OR) if one is enough.
Build the condition: pick a field, an operator, and a value.
Fields: Channel, Geography, Audience, Product, Brand, Content text, File name.
Operators: is, is not, contains, does not contain, is empty, is not empty.
Value: type one value, or several separated by commas. "is" and "contains" match any of them, and "is not" and "does not contain" match none of them. Suggestions from your company's channels, audiences and brands appear as you type.
Click Add condition to add more conditions to the same rule.
Next to THEN, choose apply this disclosure or skip this disclosure (for a library record, the wording matches the record type).
Click Done when you're finished.
Manage your rules
Use the up and down arrows (Higher priority / Lower priority) to reorder rules. Order matters because the first match wins.
Use the On / Off switch to pause a rule without deleting it. Rules that are off are ignored.
Click the trash icon to delete a rule.
The active rule(s) badge shows how many finished, switched-on rules the disclosure or record has.
Test your rules before relying on them
Below your rules, click Preview: test these rules against sample content.
Fill in sample values, such as a channel, audience, geography, products, brand or file name, and paste a sentence or two into Content text.
Check the Result: applies, skipped, or no rule matched, scope fields decide. Warrant also shows which rule decided and which conditions matched.
The preview uses the same logic as a real scan.
Examples
Only for retail email: IF all of these: Channel is Email, Audience is Retail Investors THEN apply.
Skip institutional pieces: IF any of these: Content text contains institutional, Audience is Institutional THEN skip.
One brand in one state: IF all of these: Brand is Brand X, Geography is California THEN apply.
Skip drafts by file name: IF File name contains draft THEN skip.
When you combine apply and skip rules, put the most specific rule at the top.
Good to know
A rule needs at least one finished condition before it does anything. A condition still missing its value is ignored, so a half-written rule won't change your scans.
Rules can't bring back a disclosure or record that is disabled or archived.
Every change to a rule is recorded in the item's history.
If you set up disclosures by spreadsheet import, add rules in the editor after importing.
Who can use it
Anyone who can see the Brand Portal can view rules. Adding or editing rules needs admin access or the Manage Brand Portal permission.
