Social Templates

Start posts from reusable formats, save your own, share them with your company and organize categories.

Written by Austin Carroll

Templates are reusable post formats. Start a post from one instead of a blank page, save the formats that work, and share the best ones with your whole team. Everyone with a Social seat can use and create templates.

Where to find them

Select Templates in the Social sidebar. You can also select Create New, then Create Template, to go straight to a new template.

The board has two views:

  • Discover holds the templates shared with your whole company. Admin picks appear first under Featured templates, and the rest are grouped by category. Warrant adds a starter set based on your company profile, so the board is never empty.

  • Personal holds the templates you created for yourself and any templates you bookmarked from Discover. Nobody else can see them.

Use the search bar at the top of the page to filter templates by title, description or category.

Use a template

  1. Select a template card. A preview opens with the template's full prompt and any attached files, so you can check it fits before you start.

  2. Select Use template.

  3. Warrant creates a draft post and opens Generate, using the template's title and description as the topic. Pick your platform and generate the draft.

What the template carries onto the post:

  • Body text is added to the draft as starting content.

  • Images, video and audio attached to the template are added to the post. Documents stay on the template as reference only.

  • If the template has links, the first one becomes the source: Generate opens on From URL, so the post is written from that page.

To keep a Discover template handy, select the bookmark icon on its card (Save to Personal). Select it again to remove it.

Create a template

  1. On the Templates page, select New template.

  2. Choose an icon: any emoji, or upload a PNG, JPG or WEBP image.

  3. Enter a Title and a Description. Both are required. The description is a line for your future self about when to use the template, and it also steers generation.

  4. Add a Body if you want fixed starting copy. This is optional.

  5. Under Files, select Upload or From Library to attach up to 10 files. Files that cannot go on a post are marked reference only.

  6. Add up to 5 links. The first link is what a post from this template is generated from. The rest stay on the template as reference.

  7. Pick a Category and a Visibility (see below).

  8. Select Create Template.

Share a template with your company

Visibility decides who sees a template:

  • Only me keeps the template in your Personal view. This is the only option for members.

  • Everyone at your company puts it on the Discover board for everyone with a Social seat. Only admins can choose this.

Admins sharing a template with the company can also tick Feature in "Our top picks" to place it in the Featured templates band.

Edit or delete a template

Use the pencil and trash icons on a template card. You can edit or delete your own personal templates, and admins can edit or delete any company template. Deleting a company template removes it for everyone, including anyone who bookmarked it, and cannot be undone.

Manage template categories

Categories are the sections on the Discover board. Admins manage them in Settings, then Fields & option lists, under Reach template categories. The same list is also available in Settings, then Social settings, under Template categories.

  • Add, rename, reorder or remove categories. The board shows them in the order you set.

  • Select a category to rename it. Templates in that category move with it.

  • The number beside each category is how many templates use it. To remove a category that is in use, Warrant asks you to Move templates first: choose where those templates should go, then select Move and remove.

  • You can have up to 40 categories, each up to 40 characters, and you must keep at least one.

If you have never changed the list, Warrant uses its defaults: Tip, Story, Question, How-to, Opinion and Case Study.
