Set Up My Voice

Teach Warrant how you write so the posts it drafts sound like you.

Written by Austin Carroll

My Voice tells Warrant how you write, so posts it drafts for you sound like you rather than like a template. It is personal: each person with a Social seat sets up their own, and one voice is used across all your accounts and platforms.

Where to find it

Go to Settings, then My Voice under Personal settings. The panel shows whether your voice is set, where the voice used for your posts currently comes from, and a summary of your answers.

You can also reach the survey from the editor. If a draft was generated without a voice, a note under it reads This draft was generated in a default voice, with a link to Answer a few questions.

Set up your voice

  1. On the My Voice panel, select Set up my voice.

  2. Select Start. The survey is five questions over two pages and takes about two minutes. Every question is optional, and your answers save as you go, so you can stop halfway without losing anything.

  3. Who you are: your role, what you do and usually post about, who you are writing for, and the topics you want to be read on.

  4. How you sound: pick a tone (Casual, Neutral or Formal), a point of view (I for yourself or We for the company), and how you use emoji and hashtags. Then paste a post or two you have written, and optionally a post from someone whose style you admire.

  5. Open Anything else? if you want to add more detail, such as things your posts should never do, words you reach for and words you would never use.

  6. Select Finish. The summary shows what was captured. If you pasted posts, select Analyze my writing to have Warrant fill in the details you skipped, such as tone, sentence rhythm and vocabulary.

  7. Select Done.

Fill it in from your recent posts

If you have already published posts through Warrant, select Fill from my recent posts on the survey's first screen. Warrant reads your published posts and answers what it can. You need at least three published posts for this to work.

Neither Fill from my recent posts nor Analyze my writing overwrites anything you typed yourself. Review the suggested answers as you go and change any that do not fit.

How your voice is used

  • Generate uses your voice when it drafts a post for you.

  • Improve, then My Voice, in the editor rewrites an existing draft in your voice while keeping its meaning and facts.

  • Your company's prohibited language and compliance policies still apply. Your voice changes how a post sounds, not what it is allowed to say.

If you have not set up a voice, Warrant uses your company's default voice if there is one, and otherwise your company's brand settings.

Change, pause or clear your voice

  • Select Retake the survey at any time to update your answers.

  • Turn off Use my voice to pause it without deleting your answers. Posts fall back to your company's settings until you turn it back on.

  • Select Clear my answers to remove your voice entirely.

Only you can see and change your voice. Your teammates each set up their own.
