This guide helps you fix the most common problems with connecting social accounts and publishing posts from Warrant, and explains what to do when a platform can't be connected at all. For how to connect each channel, see Connect Your Social Accounts.
A channel won't connect
When a connection doesn't finish, Warrant shows a message when you land back in Settings. Here is what each one means:
The connection was cancelled or didn't finish on the platform's side. You closed or declined the platform's consent screen. Nothing was connected. Select Connect again when you're ready.
That connection attempt expired before it finished. Start again from the channel's row in Personal Integrations.
Facebook only connects a Page, not a personal profile. The Facebook account you signed in with doesn't manage a Page. Create a Page, or ask to be made an admin of an existing one, then connect again. If you can't, use the fallback at the end of this article.
That network turned the connection down before it finished. Try again. If it keeps happening, check that the account you sign in with can publish on that platform. For example, Instagram needs a Business or Creator account, and YouTube needs a channel on the Google account.
That connection linked more than one account at once. Warrant couldn't tell which account you meant, so it didn't link any. Contact [email protected] rather than retrying.
You were signed out of Warrant when the connection finished. Sign in to Warrant and connect again.
We couldn't verify that connection. Try again. If it keeps failing, contact support.
That network is taking longer than usual to respond or Too many requests to this network. Wait a moment, then try again.
For LinkedIn, if the connection fails you see Failed to connect LinkedIn. Please try again. Select Connect LinkedIn again and make sure you finish LinkedIn's sign-in.
"Reconnect your account to publish"
Platforms expire or revoke access from time to time, for example when you change your password or remove Warrant's access on the platform. When that happens:
Publishing shows Reconnect your [channel] account to publish. For LinkedIn the message is LinkedIn connection expired. Please reconnect your account.
Warrant sends you an in-app notification and an email, and the channel shows Reconnect needed on Personal Integrations.
To fix it, go to Settings, then Personal Integrations, select Reconnect on the channel and sign in again with the same account. Then open any scheduled posts for that channel and check they are still set to go out (see "A scheduled post didn't go out" below).
If you see That account belongs to another member, the post was set to publish from someone else's account. Connections are personal, so you can only publish from accounts you connected yourself.
The post can't be published as it is
Warrant checks a post against the channel's rules before it publishes or schedules it, so most problems show up in the composer rather than at publish time. The common ones:
Too long. The message tells you the limit and your current length. Limits: LinkedIn 3,000 characters, X 280, Facebook 63,206, Instagram 2,200, TikTok 2,200, Reddit 40,000, YouTube description 5,000.
Missing a title. Reddit and YouTube posts need a title. Reddit titles can be up to 300 characters, YouTube titles up to 100.
Missing a subreddit. Reddit posts need a subreddit, which you set in the composer.
Missing media. Instagram posts need an image or video. TikTok and YouTube posts need a video, and an image alone won't publish.
Too many attachments. LinkedIn takes up to 9 images or one video, and a video must be posted on its own. X takes up to 4 images or videos, Facebook and Instagram up to 10, Reddit up to 20 images (no video), and TikTok and YouTube one video.
Wrong file type. Posts can include images, video or audio, but not documents such as PDFs.
First comment not supported. Only LinkedIn and YouTube support a first comment. Remove it on other channels.
The platform rejected the post
[Channel] rejected this post's content. The platform refused the post. Check it against the platform's own content rules, edit, and try again.
This post was already published to [channel] in the last 24 hours. The identical post already went out. Change the post or wait before posting it again.
[Channel] is rate limiting us. The platform is limiting how often posts can be sent. Wait a while, then publish again.
Publishing to [channel] failed. Try again. The platform or the connection had a temporary problem. Try again in a few minutes. Before retrying, check the platform to make sure the post didn't go out.
Published, the first comment failed, add it manually. The post is live but its first comment wasn't added. Add the comment yourself on the platform.
TikTok and YouTube process videos after upload, so a published post can take a few minutes to appear on the platform.
A scheduled post didn't go out
Scheduled posts are published at their scheduled time. If that time has passed and the post still doesn't show as Published, it didn't go out, most often because the connection needed reconnecting or the platform rejected the post.
Check Settings, then Personal Integrations, and reconnect the channel if it shows Reconnect needed.
Check the platform to confirm the post isn't already live.
Open the post and select Publish or reschedule. Choose Publish now to send it straight away and see any error immediately, or Schedule to pick a new time.
A post only publishes while it is approved. If changes were requested after it was scheduled, it waits and goes out once it is approved again.
If you can't connect the platform
Some accounts can't be connected because of the platform's own rules, for example a personal Facebook profile or a personal Instagram account. You can still use Warrant's review and keep the record:
Create the post in Social and get it approved as usual.
Open the approved post and select Copy. In Copy this post, copy the post text (and first comment, if any) and download each attached image or video.
Post it yourself on the platform.
Back in Warrant, select Mark as published. Paste the link to the live post into Live post URL and select Mark as published.
The post's status becomes Published and it is locked from further edits. The link appears as View post so your team can find it, and you can add or change it later with Add link or Edit link on the published post. Because the post went out outside Warrant, Warrant can't read its metrics from the platform.
Metrics are missing
Connect your [channel] account to read this post's metrics and comments. Reconnect the channel in Personal Integrations.
X posts. X doesn't make per-post metrics available, so Warrant has nothing to show.
This post was published outside Warrant. The post was marked as published by hand, so there is no platform post for Warrant to read.
