Answers to common questions about which files Warrant can scan, how video and audio work, and how Warrant handles content in languages other than English and rules that only apply in certain places.
Which file types can I upload and scan?
Documents: PDF, Word (.doc, .docx, .odt), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx) and Excel (.xls, .xlsx).
Images: PNG, JPG and WEBP.
Video: MP4 and MOV.
Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, AIFF and WMA.
Web and email: HTML (.html, .htm), and saved emails and templates (.msg, .oft, .eml).
ZIP archives: the supported files inside are extracted and uploaded individually.
You can also bring in content without a file: capture a public web page or PDF link, import from a Dropbox shared link, or import a Figma frame. See Upload Content to OS Library.
My file type isn't listed. What can I do?
Export it to a supported format first. For example, download a Google Doc or Google Slides deck as .docx, .pptx or PDF, export Keynote or Pages files to PowerPoint, Word or PDF, and download designs from Canva as PDF, PNG or MP4.
Can I scan an HTML email?
Yes. Upload the email's .html file, or save the email from Outlook or another email client as .msg, .oft or .eml and upload that. When you upload a .msg or .oft file, Warrant also pulls out its attachments and adds each one as its own file next to the email, so they can be scanned too.
Can I scan a website or landing page?
Yes. Click Create New, select Website URL, paste the link and click Capture Website. Warrant captures a full-page screenshot of the page with its text, and you scan it like any other file. This works for public pages only. Pages behind a login won't capture.
Can I upload a ZIP file?
Yes. Warrant uploads the supported files inside the ZIP. A ZIP can be up to 500 MB and hold up to 2,000 files. ZIP files can't be imported from Dropbox links, so download those and upload them directly.
Are there file size limits?
ZIP archives can be up to 500 MB, with each file inside up to 500 MB. Outlook .msg and .oft files can be up to 500 MB, and Warrant extracts up to 100 attachments from each one. If a very large file won't upload or scan, contact [email protected].
Does Warrant scan PowerPoint speaker notes?
No. Warrant scans what appears on the slides: the text, images, layout and fine print. Speaker notes are not included in the scan, whether you upload the deck or use the PowerPoint add-in.
If your speaker notes need review, save the deck as a PDF from PowerPoint with the layout set to Notes Pages, and upload that PDF as well.
How are Excel files scanned?
Warrant shows each sheet as a page and scans it like a document, so you can review rate sheets, tables and spreadsheet copy without copying them out first.
How does Warrant scan videos and audio?
Warrant transcribes the speech and checks it against your policies. For video, it also looks at what's shown on screen, such as on-screen disclaimers and imagery. Each finding records the moment in the media it relates to.
Can I jump to the moment in a video where a finding is?
Yes. Open the file and go to the Scan tab. Click a finding and the video or audio jumps to the moment the finding relates to.
You can also read the full transcript in the Speech tab, which appears on video and audio files. Click any timestamp in the transcript to jump to that moment.
Can Warrant scan content that isn't in English?
Yes. Warrant reads and analyzes the content in its original language and applies every policy just as it would for English content.
Finding titles, explanations and the scan summary are written in English, so your reviewers can understand them.
Quotes are shown exactly as they appear in your content, in the original language, so you can find them in the file.
When a finding includes a required disclosure for you to add, Warrant gives it in the same language as your content if you have a translation of that disclosure. If you don't, it describes in English what the disclosure must say.
What is the Language field on a file?
Language is one of a file's details, shown on its Info tab. Warrant suggests it automatically when you upload, and you can change it. If a piece is in more than one language, the main language comes first.
The scan uses the file's language to pick the right translation of each disclosure. Admins can set the list of languages people choose from, and make the field required at upload. See File Details Fields and Dropdown Options.
How do I add a translated version of a disclosure?
In the sidebar, open Brand Portal > Disclosures and click the disclosure.
Click Edit, then Add Variant under Approved Variants.
Give it a Label, set Tag Type to Custom and enter the language as the Tag Value, for example "Spanish".
Paste the translated disclosure text and save the variant.
When Warrant scans Spanish content, it uses the Spanish wording, and it won't suggest the Spanish text for content in another language. See Disclosures Library.
Can I have policies and disclosures that only apply in certain states or countries?
Yes. Warrant uses each file's Geography to decide which rules apply:
Regulations and policies that are scoped to a state, city or country are only checked when the file's Geography includes that place. Federal and global rules always apply. See Set Your Compliance Scan Policies.
Disclosures and Brand Portal library records have a Geography scope, and you can add IF/THEN rules such as "IF Geography is California THEN apply". See Conditional Rules for Disclosures and Library Records.
Fill in Geography on every file so the right local rules are checked. Admins can make it required at upload.
